My First Sewn Clothing - Pajama Capri with Cuff and Piping

Hi Friends! Happy Sunday! About a month ago I decided to take sewing lessons because I wanted to learn to sew. . .duh! Well, we're 6 weeks into our 10 week class and I finally finished sewing my pajama pants! Actually, the pants above is a pajama capri that I sewn myself without the help of the instructor. I'm actually still working on my full length pajama with my instructor but I decided to try to make the capri version myself.

There's also a pajama top that we haven't started on yet so I'll share the full set once I'm done. You're like, what's the big deal. . .it's just a pajama pants! LOL! Well, I am so excited that I was able to complete the capri all by myself especially the capri cuff and piping! A month ago, I had no idea how to sew anything. . .and look, I actually sewn a pants! I'm on my way, people!!

Honestly, sewing the capri was not problem free. It's a completely different scenario when you're doing it on your own when you're a newbie. I had paid attention in class but when I had to do it on my own without any help, well. . .I messed up. I was so confused on how to sew the crotch area. I actually sewn the wrong end and had to tear out the seam and start over. I even read the instructions and was still confused. I finally figured it out and honestly, I'm still not sure what I did to complete the pants! LOL!!! I'll make another one for my daughter and see if I can do it again. Practice makes perfect!!!

I'm especially proud that I had sewn the cuff and piping. Actually, this part was easier than sewing the crotch because I really paid attention when our instructor was showing us the steps on how to sew the cuff and piping. Don't you just love the cupcake pattern? It's so cute!!

I'll practice making this capri pants and after I've made a few, I'll work on a new project. I'm thinking of sewing an apron next! I know, simple stuff but I'm so stinkin' excited about it. I'm imagining all the fun projects I can work on once I get the hang of this sewing stuff! The possibilities are endless!!!!

Before I go, I wanted to share this video! I love finding new music on YouTube. . .I love this song by KT Tunstall. You may remember her song "Suddenly I See" in the movie "the Devil Wears Prada". Well, I really love this song "Other Side of the World" and I especially love the video. It's pretty cool. The song is pretty too.

Anyway, that's it for today! I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!!

Crazy 4 Challenges - C4C76

Hello Friends!! Gosh, I've been slacking in my crafting and blogging the past two weeks! Yesterday was the first time in the past week and a half that I felt "normal". My head is still a bit stuffy but otherwise, I finally have my energy back. It sucks to be sick but I'm so happy that I'm on my way to recovery. . .:) I actually have a bunch of unfinished crochet and sewing projects that I need to finish and share with ya' all!! Hopefully, I'll be able to complete them this week.

Well, it's Saturday and you know what that means! It's Crazy 4 Challenges time again. Before I begin, I would like to bid Angela, one of the crazy gals at C4C, farewell! She is stepping down as a designer at C4C to spend more time with her family but she will still be in blogland. You can visit her at Angelwood's Crafting Corner

This week's challenge is hosted by Angela and her challenge is a fun one again! The challenge is to create a card with flowers. Yay! I love flowers! Before I talk about my card, be sure to stop by C4C and check out the fabulous cards the design team created or stop by their individual blogs!!

I had a ton of ideas for this card challenge. I have a few fabric and crochet flowers that I created, a ton of Primas, and I even thought of creating felt flowers but I decided because I don't stamp as often as I once did, I felt that I should stamp a flower instead.

I stamped the image, heat embossed the image with a holographic embossing powder, cut the flower and layered it to give it a 3D effect. To jazz it up a bit, I added a bead pin that I created and attached a charm to it.

Just to let you know the image and sentiment is from the Stampin Up "Fabulous Flowers" stamp set. I also heat embossed the sentiment but you can't really see it in the picture.

I have major catching up to do!!!! Chores, organization, crafting. . .I'm so behind on life! Ugggh!

Anyway, that's it for today! I hope ya' all have a fabulous Saturday!

Mini Card Marathon

Hello Friends!! I seem to be developing a pattern. . .I don't create or post anything from Sunday through Tuesday. LOL! Actually, I'm still getting over my cold. It's been going on longer than I anticipated but I felt better today so I decided to work on a few cards. Because I'm so behind on my crafting, I decided to do a mini card marathon again.

My goal actually is to use a few stamps that I haven't used for a very long time and ultimately sell them. I just don't stamp as often as I once did and I feel there's no point in holding on to some of my stamps when I probably won't get around to using them. I've always been hesitant to let go of my stamps because I'm afraid that I'm going to want to use them and they'll be gone but there are so many other projects that I want to work on that realistically, it's not possible to use all the stamps I have.

This image is a very old Close to My Heart stamp. I decided to watercolor the image instead of coloring with my Copic Markers. Watercoloring is so much faster than coloring with Copics. Lately, I've been really impatient when it comes to coloring my images. I don't want to spend a lot of time coloring an image. I once loved just sitting down and color images and I took my time doing so but nowadays, when I make a card, I want to finish it quickly so I can move on to other things.

Here is another card set that I worked on. Again, I colored my images with watercolors but went over parts of the image with my Copic Markers. I added a bit of glitter to the umbrella.

Anyway, I hope my stuffy head will be over and done with soon. I actually went to bed at 8:00 last night which happens very rarely. I typically go to bed after 10:00 but I've been feeling a bit exhausted because of my cold. Ugggh!!

Okay, well that's it for today! Hope you all are having a wonderful Wednesday evening!

Glass Cup Frame - Re-invented and Refurbished

Hey Friends! Earlier this evening I asked my husband to bring down a few glass cups that were stored way at the top of our cupboard. They were glass cups we haven't used for years but were just sitting there so I decided I could re-invent them by creating photo frames with them. I actually would have preferred using a vase that was taller and had a pretty shape but I didn't have any that weren't already used for something else so the next best thing were the cups.

With the first glass cup I decided to use it as a candle holder photo frame. I actually wanted to use a larger candle but unfortunately, the candle I had was too large to fit in the glass so I found a smaller one. I initially tried to use the river rocks shown in the picture below to fill around the candle but again, they were too large. I didn't want to go to the store and buy smaller ones so I looked around and found whatever I had in the house.

Instead of the river rocks, I used potpourri and large white beads to decorate around the candle and decorated the outside with gold beads. I think it worked out perfectly.

All I did was add the photo first. The photo clings to the inside of the glass nicely. I then added the candle and filled the glass with potpourri and beads.

Because I wanted to give this glass photo frame to my husband to put in his office, I kept it super simple. All I did was add the photo and put some river rocks inside. That's it. It has a masculine sorta Zen look to it. Perfect for a man! Nothing foo-foo about it!

My husband thought it was a little strange. . .I guess he couldn't see beyond the glass cup. I don't know. . what do you think? The photo is protected by the glass so it works like a photo frame. Anyway, I like it. I think I'm going to make more with different types of glass and decorative fillers.

I'm still feeling blah with my cold. I want to craft but my head is so stuffed up. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day.

Hope you all have a wonderful President's Day weekend!!

Crazy 4 Challenges - C4C75

Hello Friends! Happy Saturday! It's Crazy 4 Challenges time again and this week our wonderful sponsor is Paper Pretties!! Whoohoo!!Angela came up with a great challenge this week. The challenge this week is to use die cuts.

Stop by C4C and check out the lovely cards the design team created or stop by the designers' individual blogs:

* Barbara Anders
* Cindy Haffner
* Frances Byrne
* Jessie Rone
* Joanne Grzelak
* Joycelyn Pelkey
Lynda Benden
* Angela Wood
*Silke Ledlow

I wanted to be a little more creative with my die cuts but I've been sick this week and I just did not have much creative energy to come up with anything creative with my die cuts. I did use my Nestabilities die and Martha stewart border punch to meet the challenge. I colored the Paper Pretties image with my Copic Markers. . .isn't the image yummy or what?

Because my favorite new hobby right now is sewing well, I had to add fabric and sewing to my card. The cupcake fabric was a scrap from a pajama I'm sewing right now. I thought it was a perfect background for the image.

I did add a jewelry charm and a metal framed tag to create a bit of contrast to my card. I love using different elements and textures to my cards. I think it adds character to a card. . .:)

Anyway, that's it for today. I hope you all have a fabulous Saturday!!

Embellished Pin Cushions

Hello Friends!! Gosh, I've been sick the past few days. . .it started on Monday and progressively got worse. Today is the first day that I'm in the mood to get on my computer and stop by my Facebook account. If I'm not on Facebook, usually something isn't right! LOL! I'm either sick, away on a trip, depressed or dead. No kidding! I'm a Facebook addict, I tell ya'!

Anyway, I worked on a few pin cushions the past few days starting last week. I decided to post them all at once rather one at a time as I make them. I don't think you want to see a daily posting of pin cushions! ***update*** I posted similar pin cushions a few weeks ago with the link to the tutorial when I first made them but here is the tutorial for those who are interested in making them! Have fun: Click Here

But I have a plan! I'm going to make all sorts of pin cushions! Different shapes, colors, designs! I have a lot of different ideas on what I want to make.

I won't go into the details of each of the pin cushions because they're all basically the same but using different fabrics and embellishments. The bottom is made of felt and the top with fabric. I should make them reversible. .. so it can be used on both ends. Maybe I'll decorate the bottom with buttons.

The embellishment on this one is basically sewing beads and silky prima flower

The same with these but they're pink

A pink one with prima flower and beading

The heart one is with an applique and ric rac

I made the ribbon rose myself. I posted the tutorial some time last week. I'll add the link later. I have to run. . .gotta drop my daughter off to the bus stop for school.

Anyway. . .I'll add the link to the rose tutorial later. I need to look for the link. Hope you all have a fabulous day!

Mini Card Making Marathon

Hey Friends! In between cleaning, organizing, grocery shopping, picking up and dropping off my daughter for school, and other things, I managed to squeeze in some time to do a mini card marathon. I would take mini breaks and work on the sets of cards.

No shabby chic or vintage creations today. . .:) My goal for these cards were to use stamps I haven't used or never wanted to use and use up some ribbons I've had stashed for quite some time.

Do you like yellow? I'm not a big yellow fan but lately all my cards have been in pink so I decided that I needed to do something different. There's nothing much to discuss about my card. I added a bit of glitter to the image to add a little pizzaz to the card. Glitter always work in jazzing up a card.

Sometimes when I make a card or most times when I make a card, I do it flying at the seat of my pants. . .no plan or anything. . .sometimes it works, sometimes not. With this card, I thought the card was a bit too simple so I grabbed the closest border punch and punched the edge of the card. That worked in making a plain card look less plain.

I added a little rose to complete the card. Nothing much else to the card.

Anyway, I'm sorta ADHD. . .I have an apron, pin cushions, and other projects half completed, my hallway is a mess, my garage organization still not complete but I did manage to do the laundry and wash the dishes yesterday. My mind is swirling with a lot of fun projects I want to work on but haven't been able to start on. I badly want my garage organization to be done. . .I'm really tired of working on it. Whenever I walk into the garage, I get a bit depressed looking at what I still need to do. Ugggh! But, life is good. . .I'm actually blessed that I'm able to do what I want and do it when I want to so I'm not really complaining. I just wish I had more time to do all the things I need and want to do.

Well, I hope you all are having a wonderful Wednesday!

Embossed Candle Tutorial

Hello Friends!! Happy Tuesday!! I'm sorry I haven't posted anything since Saturday. I actually finished this project and the tutorial yesterday but my camera ran out of battery and I forgot to charge my battery. What's this project? Well it's a technique on how to emboss an image to a candle. You don't necessarily emboss the image directly on to the candle but instead, you emboss an image on to a gift wrapping tissue then adhere it to the candle with a heating gun. Simple stuff actually. I posted the tutorial below if you're interested in trying it out.

I used the SU "Brocade Basics" stamp set for the candle above and used a glittery embossing powder to emboss the image. One of the leaves isn't glittery because I had to inverse the image when transferring the image to the candle so that it would go in the opposite direction.

I used a burgundy colored embossing powder for the flower. As you can see, it has a raised appearance. You can stamp an image on to a tissue and not emboss it; it works the same way but this tutorial is about having an embossed look to the candle.

Here is the second candle I created. This one is pretty glittery. The problem with working with glittery embossing powder is that the glitters have a tendency to fly around and melt on to the candle so you can sometimes end up with a splotchy appearance to the image. To solve this problem, be sure the embossing powder is completely embossed on to the tissue and tap the tissue before adhering to the candle to remove any stray glitters. This prevents stray glitters melting on to the candle.

Anyway, if you want to do something fun and different, try it out! It's a nice way to decorate a plain candle.

That's it for today. Hope you all have a fantastic Tuesday!

Crazy 4 Challenges - C4C74

Hello Friends! Happy Saturday! It's Crazy 4 Challenges time again and Angela has challenged us with another fun and simple challenge! The challenge is to add something with a heart shape on your card! Well. . .I can surely do that! Actually I did one the other day and and last week!
LOL!

Before I chit chat about my card. . .be sure to stop by Crazy 4 Challenges and check out the super lovely cards the design team created or if you want, stop by the designers individual blogs.

Hey I just realized I used the same designer paper for my C4C challenge card last week! I must have loved this paper. Anyway. . .are you getting tired of looking at my shabby chic cards? Hope not because I'm really into it right now! Maybe I'll do something different and create something not shabby chic tomorrow.

Honestly I have a ton of lace, beads, flowers, etc. so I'm trying to use them up so I can buy more! Just kidding. Actually I have a ton of everything and it's almost to the point of being silly.

Okay, a little info on my card. I adhered the lace and beads on to the card using liquid stitch because I found that it dries fast and clear. I don't have to wait around and hold it down and it sticks really really good. I found the clear embellishment glues that are used for crafting does a really weird thing once it dries. . . .for some reason the embellishments fall off after awhile. . .not that the glue comes off but it seems the embellishments just separates themselves off the dried glue.

Remember the SU Paper Crimper pictured below? Gosh, I've had it for years and I can't believe SU still sells it. Boy, lately I've been loving it. . .see, old stuff always become new again sometime or another. I used it for the cards I posted the other day as well.

I stamped the sentiment using SU "Always" stamp set on to fabric using Versacraft ink which works nicely on fabric. Actually any pigment ink would work on fabric but Versacraft ink on fabric after it is heat set can be washed. . .I don't think pigment ink and certainly not dye inks are water resistant but I guess it doesn't matter if you're using the fabric for paper craft projects because you're not going to wash it anyway.

I did a bit of sewing too on my card! Whoohoo fun stuff! My old sewing machine is being put to good use with my paper crafting. I have a newer sewing machine for sewing on fabric. I used a dyed seam binding to create the bow. . :)

Here is the SU Crimper that I used on the heart. . .again, it's still available at SU. I love it because you can crimp cardboard and thin chipboards with it.

Anyway, I've said enough I think. . .LOL! Hope you all have a fabulous Saturday!

Valentines Ribbon Rose Card Set and Play Date Cafe Challenge PDCC68

Hi Friends! Sorry I haven't posted anything the past few days. I haven't had time to craft anything until today because I'm in the middle of a garage reorganization. I decided to take a break today because all the dust churned up has been causing havoc on my allergies! I've been feeling stuffy and my lungs feel so constricted because of all the dust.

Anyway. . .I decided to work on a few Valentines cards. Lately I've been enjoying creating sets because I can whip up a bunch of cards really quickly if I use the same design on all of my cards.
I wanted to create a rose using fabric but I found a good video on how to create a rose using ribbons. I could probably use the same technique to create a fabric rose.

Because the Play Date Cafe's challenge this week is shabby chic/vintage, I thought it would be fun to enter in the challenge! I don't normally play in challenges much but this was a fun one because I do love anything shabby chic or vintage. Stop by the Play Date Cafe and play along in the challenge!!

The lady in the video created her roses using "satin" ribbons but I used a wired organdy ribbon for mine. The results are a bit different because the organdy ribbon is a bit more sheer so you have to do a bit more layering but I like how it turned out anyway. If you want to try out the tutorial, CLICK HERE. It takes a few tries but once you've done it a few times, it gets easier.

I added a beaded pin to the bow. I made a bunch of them a few weeks ago and decided to use them. I also did a bit of sewing on my card.

I stamped the sentiment from the SU "Always" stamps set on fabric. I used a Versacraft (formerly known as Fabrico) ink pad which is a wonderful ink for stamping on fabric. After stamping the image, heat set it and you're good to go!!

I think I'll sew something later today. I'm having a lot of fun with sewing!! Unfortunately, I can't finish a project as quick as I can a card.

That's it for today! Hope you all have a wonderful Thursday!!
